1/4 Ton jeep trailer - USMC?

This trailer is a 1/4 Ton "jeep" trailer that came out of California in the early 2000s. It had belonged to a former USMC Gunnery Sergeant (Gunny) and was with a restored 1945 Ford GPW jeep.  It has unusual modifications and I suspect that most of these modifications were made by the United States Marine Corps (USMC).

There is no data plate, nor are holes visible for mounting one.

Modifications includes:

  1. Overrun brakes.

  2. Jeep side grab handles at corners (sides and rear) and on front frame.

  3. Rear extension with bumper

  4. Rear drop leg

  5. Rear lights replaced by black-out drive light guards and large military style rear lights.

Civilian modifications include non-combat rims and wiring.

I have hear that there are other trailers like this one and that they are sought after by the 4x4 crowd as they are so practical. The landing leg at the rear for example gives a parked trailer great stability allowing personnel to sleep in it safely, and stand in it without it tipping over. I have seen such rear landing legs on some M100CDN trailers as modified by the Canadian Army (before they went into civilian hands).
QUESTIONS:
  1. Is this trailer a one-of-a-kind or are the modifications standard?
  2. It is a USMC trailer?

I still have to search for evidence of filled in holes for data plates and try to identify if it is a Willys MBT or a Bantam.
